Judy Oliver - Reporter for Local News TV

I have lived in Bedfordshire for 35 years and have always been actively involved in the community, joining amateur dramatic groups and choral groups to fulfill my need to perform! I am currently a member of Potton Playhouse and The Locrian Chamber Choir.

Since starting working on Local-News TV, I realise that being in front of a camera is even more difficult than being on the stage; the camera can be very unforgiving.

Being part of a community is important to me and one of the reasons for starting Local-News TV is to raise the awareness of all the good things that are happening in Bedfordshire, and to encourage people to get involved. We hear of so many clubs and organisations that are struggling with membership, and other areas of communities such as pubs, village shops, post offices etc, are under threat. And yet there are many good things happening, and if Local-News TV can spread the word about what we can do, where we can do and how to get involved, then that would be a great result.

I have built up a company called You Unlimited and my professional life has for the last 12 years been involved with Leadership and Team Development, which again ties in with the aims of Local-News TV. I was trained with Dale Carnegie Training and I work with organisations that find there are challenges with communication; misunderstandings, personality clashes and breakdowns in teamwork. This doesn't only happen in organisations it also happens with families, friends and communities. I have worked with organisations such as Coca Cola, Merck Serono Pharmaceuticals, Fowler Welch Coolchain Ltd., fresh produce suppliers to Tesco, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. I am continuing to do this work alongside reporting for LNTV.

I am a Board member of the Bedfordshire and Luton Chamber of Commerce, and a Trustee on the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation Trust.

My goal in life is to Learn more, enjoy life, Talk (or communicate) and Value others
