Although Local News TV normally concentrates on good news stories, it is clear that things are not so good at the moment.

 How is the credit crunch effecting people in Bedfordshire ?     Is there any advice from people who are managing to keep things under control that they can share with the rest of Bedfordshire through Local News TV ?

June is the time when many villages and towns get together and celebrate with fetes and carnivals - and this year has been no exception.

Local News TV visits Shefford, Sandy, Blunham, Stofold, and Luton to capture the wide variety of cultures and traditions, and it is good to see that despite the doom and gloom in the economy, people want to get out and enjoy themselves.  

Some towns are finding it increasingly difficult to get the people to join the committees for these events, even though they are so obviously enjoyed by many.   Why is it difficult to get people involved in organising community events ?  Let us know your thoughts.

At a recent meeting of Bedfordshire Business people, the fact that Bedfordshire has no clear identity was discussed.  Local News TV was subsequently asked to film the opening of a new Asian elephant house at Woburn Safari park, and it occurred to me that there are not many counties that can boast two outstanding zoos (Whipsnade as well as Woburn Safari Park), the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Shuttleworth Bird of Prey Centre, potentially NIRAH with it’s fresh water conservation programme - could we in Bedfordshire combine our  prime location, our tourism attractions and our conservation expertise into promoting ourselves as The County Conserving Wildlife ?
